Trio Named as Finalists for Young Sports Star Prize

England footballer Michelle Agyemang, darts player Luke Littler and cricket star Davina Perrin have been shortlisted for the upcoming Young Sports Personality of the Year award.
The three finalists have been celebrated for their exceptional achievements over the past 12 months.
Agyemang was instrumental as the Lionesses secure Euro 2025, Littler claimed the world title for the first time, and Perrin surged to prominence with a unprecedented innings.
Littler won the award in 2024 after his breakthrough year.
The shortlisted athletes were revealed during a live broadcast on a popular morning radio program.
The champion will be unveiled on the prestigious sports ceremony show on Thursday, 18 December.
The show will be aired from 19:00 GMT.
Michelle Agyemang
Age: 19 Sport: Football
A mere three months after her first cap for her country, Agyemang played a dramatic and decisive role in England's run to European Championship victory.
She came off the bench to score vital last-gasp goals in both the quarter-final and semi-final.
These match-saving moments led to her being named the best young player at the Euros.
Subsequently, she was awarded the prestigious Golden Girl honour for the finest emerging star on the continent.
She was also shortlisted for the Kopa Trophy for the world's best under-21 female player.
Agyemang, who has been at Brighton in a temporary move from Arsenal, ruptured her anterior cruciate ligament in October.
"To be named a finalist for this honour is a privilege," said Agyemang. "I'm grateful to God and I'm grateful for the support I've received from my loved ones, mentors, colleagues and supporters."
Luke Littler
Age: 18 Sport: Darts
The year started for Littler in incredible form as - while still 17 - he became the most youthful world title winner in history.
He secured a commanding win over Michael van Gerwen in the final.
His later win at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth individual to complete the prestigious triple crown of major titles.
His success continued - his win in November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he climbed to world number one for the first time.
At 18, he is the most youthful player to do so, breaking the previous record.
"Earning a spot on the shortlist for Young Sports Personality of the Year is a big honour," stated Littler. "Winning last year was a highlight for me and I've had another unbelievable 12 months. I want to continue promoting darts."
Perrin's Profile
Age: 19 Sport: Cricket
Perrin is one of English cricket's top prospects and surged to prominence with an extraordinary and record-breaking innings in August.
Her brilliant 42-ball century in The Hundred is the fastest by an English woman in T20s.
It also stands as the joint third-fastest women's T20 century in a premier tournament.
Perrin ended up as runner-up in the run-scoring charts and was named the Professional Cricketers' Association's top young women's player.
"I'm truly honoured to be named a finalist for the Young Sports Star award," expressed Perrin. "It means a great deal. I hope it motivates more girls to get into cricket."
